As someone who grew up with siblings, I just can’t stop thinking about Nightwing and Red Hood getting into a fight in costume and Nightwing slapping his hand over Red Hood’s mouth to get him to shut up, temporarily forgetting that he can still talk through the helmet, and Red Hood retaliating by trying to lick Nightwing’s hand and accidentally just licking the inside of his helmet.

I really don’t like any version of “Jason learns one tiny fact about how people reacted to his death and immediately is crushed by how unfair he was being and forgives everyone!!!”

However there is one version of this I would allow due to it being very funny, not a complete waste of his character potential, and close to providing real evidence of something that would let him give Bruce a pass:

Superman realizes who the Red Hood is and why he’s gunning for Batman and decides to try to straighten things out before the end of Under the Red Hood. He flies over to him and explains that he was the one stopping Bruce from killing the Joker. This gets understood as Supes being the reason Batman still can’t kill him. Then Jason immediately pivots his entire life to becoming a Superman villain.

Bruce gets a phonecall: “Hi Dad, I forgive you, and I’m gonna need that 100 pounds of kryptonite back right fucking now.”

HEAR ME OUT.

I saw this idea somewhere else on a random reblog, but I CANT FIND IT, SO IM DANG IT- Here’s the basic idea:-

Yknow how Damian doesn’t have a middle name? Yeah, so do you also know how siblings constantly shout each others full name to annoy/scare the other? So I pictured a few scenarios of his siblings quickly thought of a ‘random’ middle name for him:-

Damian:- TIMOTHY JACKSON DRAKE WAYNE!!!

Tim:- DAMIAN TIMOTHY AL-GHUL WAYNE!!

Damian:-

Tim:-

Damian:-

Tim:- That’s was completely on accident-

Duke:- Omg

:-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-:

Stephanie:- DAMIAN STEPHANIE AL-GHUL WAYNE!

Damian:- *annoyed* What do you want Brown-

Stephanie:-

Damian:- WAIT-

Stephanie:- OMFG DUKE IT WORKED, OMG OMG-

:-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-:

Damian:- RICHARD JHON GRAYSON-WAYNE!?

Dick:- Oh Um- you’re full naming me-

Damian:- *glare*

Dick:- Uhm, DAMIAN, RICHARD AL-GHUL WAYNE???

Damian:-

Dick:-

Damian:-

Dick:- …Y’know, that actually has a ring to it-

Damian:- nO-

:-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-:

Alfred:- Damian Pennyworth Al-Ghul Wayne, Come over here in this very instant!

Damian:-

Jason:-

Bruce:-

Tim:-

Dick:-

Cassandra:-

Duke:- Awww Alfred! I told you to make it Damian Duke Al-Ghul Wayne :((

:-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-:

Bonus:-

I also think Bruce would just be very confused on what Damian’s middle name should be??? So, here ya go:-

Reporter:- Awww! And what is Damian’s full name?

Bruce:-

Bruce:- *Looks at his children*

Jason:- Damian Princess of Themiscara Wayne :) (Al-Ghul removed due to press)

Bruce:-

Damian, sulkily:- It’s better than Damian ‘JaSoN’ Wayne >:(

Bruce:-

Bruce, Tiredly:- His name is Damian Princess of Themiscara Wayne

Reporter:- ???

Talia, watching from the League for some reason:- ?!?

Universal basic income is working — even in red states

azspot:

So the city decided that all of the $1 million in basic-income funds would go to a single, vulnerable group: formerly incarcerated residents.

Many taxpayers were not happy about this. As the program neared its launch in March 2022, Middleton’s inbox and mailbox were flooded with messages filled with epithets. They came from white residents in the more conservative counties near Durham to recent transplants from liberal strongholds like New York City and the Bay Area. They demanded to know why the city was underwriting criminals, disincentivizing work with free handouts, and spending public dollars to help people who, in some opinions, might not deserve help.

Middleton’s answer to all criticism was steadfast, simple, and by his own admission, “very selfish.”

“We’re going to have to pay for these people one way or another, either in incarceration, benefits, homeless shelters, whatever it is,” he told me. “It seems to me that spending more money up front makes more sense than housing folks, monitoring and feeding them, and taking care of their healthcare in prison.”

He encourages skeptical taxpayers to look at universal basic income from the same “selfish point of view.” “By virtue of your humanity, your citizenship, and your residency,” he added, “there’s a certain line we will not allow you to fall under because it’s good policy for us.”

Though the data is still nascent, basic income has proven to be good policy everywhere it’s been tested in America. The Durham program would be one of its greatest tests yet.

i actually do think individual human lives are unfathomably valuable

image

[id: Tumblr tags that read:

“dehumanizing even the worst people you know is an easy way to become the worst people you know” “separating people into ‘good people who are human and don’t deserve to die’ and 'evil monsters who are not human and deserve to die’ is a” “pretty fucked up mindset to have actually!” “bc i hate to be the bearer of bad news but sometimes even good people are Wrong” “and you realize 'oh shit i had a lot of biases that were contributing to me thinking this group of people was Ontologically Evil and i need” “to unpack that’ and it would be great if people could do that instead of just calling for the complete and utter eradication of anyone they” “deem to be their Enemy”. end id.]

so many people in the notes are still missing the point and saying “EXCEPT for [group of people] it’s healthy to want them to die” ok the fundamental problem is who is going to exercise this? you want the state to decide who falls into these categories and enact punitive justice to the extent of death? you think it’s a good idea for a government to have/maintain the power to do that?

ok so maybe you’re against the death penalty, but do you think bad people should be denied medical care, housing, or food? do you think it’s deserved? what’s the exact line that someone has to cross in order for other people in society or the state itself to be justified in killing them slowly rather than outright? does this make you a good person?
